It has been eighteen months since Trittico, the Milan-based payment security specialist, officially joined Verisec. For a local firm with deep roots, stepping into a global organization is a massive shift. But what does that transition actually look like on the ground? How do employees react, and does the local identity survive the process? We sat down with Massimo Botturi, Managing Director of Verisec Italy, to talk about the reality of the merger, from the first meetings to the day-to-day business of serving Tier-1 clients.

Beyond the numbers: Finding a sector peer

For Massimo and the Trittico founders, the decision to sell was not just about a financial exit. It was about finding a partner that actually understood their craft.

“Verisec worked in the same sector. That was a crucial factor for me,”

Massimo recognized that the industry was moving toward Payment Security as a Service, and joining forces allowed Trittico to evolve from distributing third-party products to delivering proprietary technology like 10XPay.

A decade of trust

Acquisitions often stand or fall on the relationship between the people involved. In this case, the foundation was built over ten years of collaboration.

Massimo’s confidence in the move was rooted in a long-standing friendship with Verisec’s CEO Anders Henrikson. This trust was proven during the pandemic, when Verisec supported Trittico with rapid deployments during the Italian lockdowns. That history made the formal acquisition process much smoother. “The pro-active presence of Anders’s colleagues was vital,” Massimo recalls. “If too much time passes between discussions, momentum dies. Here, we had transparency throughout.”

Integration is about people, not just systems

The fear of losing a local culture is real. To counter this, Verisec and Trittico focused on what Massimo calls “emotional integration.” Through a “Buddy Program,” Trittico staff were paired with Verisec colleagues to share insights and build personal connections. It was not just about syncing emails; it was about making the Milan team feel part of a larger, motivated group. This new international backing also turned Trittico into a magnet for talent. High-level professionals who might have overlooked a smaller local firm were now eager to join because of the evolving perspectives.

How do the customers feel?

One of the biggest anxieties during the process was how long-term accounts would react. Massimo and his team sat down with their largest customers to explain the change personally.

The reaction was surprisingly positive. “The faces remained the same, but there was now a more structured company behind them,” Massimo explains. For the clients, the acquisition was a net positive. Trittico became a more solid entity, capable of handling enterprise-level projects and providing instant support that a smaller firm simply couldn’t match.

Looking ahead

Eighteen months in, the Milan office has access to a global pool of technical and consulting resources. Whether it is offering cloud-based payment HSMs or solving complex key management challenges, the team can now take on “giant customers” with total confidence.

For other companies wondering what a future with Verisec looks like, Massimo’s experience is a practical example: it is a process that respects local expertise while providing the scale to compete on a global stage.

Are you ready to scale your vision? At Verisec, we are always looking for partners who share our commitment to technical excellence. Let’s talk about the future.
